Set on the perfectly manicured Ocean Lawn, the Royal Kona Luau embraces a stunning backdrop for this Hawaiian evening’s delights. The sun sets against the Pacific with a gentle breeze flickering the flames of the Tiki torches. The fun begins with the welcoming call from the conch shell inviting all to the feast. Be greeted by your gracious dancers and hosts for the show with a shell lei and warm aloha. You’ll have a chance to check out wares by local artisans and crafters. Visit the bar for libations such as beer, wine, mai tais, and a selection of sodas, tropical juices, coffee and teas. Observe the special imu ceremony for the traditional unveiling of the Kalua Pig. Layers and layers of rocks, sand and leaves have covered this underground oven to create incredibly succulent roast pork. Watch as the luau performers showcase this age old preparation and presentation.
Visit the buffet line for a sampling of choices from the islands. Highlights include the Lomi Lomi salmon, island fish, chicken luau and braised beef, along with the staples of sweet potatoes, white rice and poi. Save room for dessert of local sweet pineapple, coconut custard and pineapple upside down cake.
When you’ve eaten your fill from the buffet, settle in for a lovely evening of entertainment. Be captivated by the stories of Polynesia as you’re whisked away to the South Pacific with song, chant, music and dance. Watch the twirl of the grass skirts and poi balls, as well as the grand finale of fire knife dancing – a Samoan tradition that is sure to impress! The fire knife dance shows off an intimidating demonstration of the warrior’s skill and competence with fire!
For a wonderful and fiery starlit evening of Hawaiian music, song and fun that is truly a treat for all the senses, join the dancers of the Royal Kona Luau on a Big Island in the middle of the sea.
