Begin your enchanted evening with your check-in to the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel, next to the pier in Kailua Bay. The performers welcome you to the event like you are family – with aloha. As you settle in, watch the imu ceremony where the Kalua Pig is unveiled. The imu, or underground oven, is the customary way of cooking this dish. A tradition that is a labor of love, the pork roasts among layers of rock, sand, and banana leaves to keep it moist. As the night begins, the feast is ready to enjoy.
Along with the Kalua Pork, in the buffet you’ll find local dishes such as lomi lomi salmon, poke, poi and cucumber namasu. Try the local Waimea green salad and locally grown pineapple. Enjoy fresh fish, Kona broil, and long grain rice with chicken as well as sweet potatoes and steamed white rice. Save room for the dessert buffet featuring coconut cake and pudding.
